you people piss me off with your crybaby whining

by bull hauler
(ga)

You people make me sick, with all your whining an crying, stop horse slaughter, don't hurt them.

I haul 2 loads of them a week, and the money is great!! You say it is inhuman an cruel, but who is the cruel one, me or the people that starve and can't take care of there horses? They sit in the pasture an look like crap, but that must be ok because there not taking them to slaughter.

I have 15 head of horses myself, love them and wouldn't trade them for nothing. Most of the stock that goes to slaughter are to far gone to try an save, and the others are old and all used up.

So that's all i have to say about that. I'm just sick of hearing the crybabies and p.e.t.t.a run there mouth about things that they don't even know about!!!!.

Shut Up Yourself
by: Suzanne

"You people need to shut the hell up! I am totally for horse slaughter! I've worked at a horse sale and seen countless horses loaded onto a slaughter trailer and hauled off! Guess what? I am perfectly fine with that! The people that take them to slaughter need to make money too, plus we have to find a way to get rid of all the unwanted horses that you idiots buy as cute little pets then sell when you can't afford them anymore or become useless to you.

P.S.
Bull Hauler don't stop what you do!"

Oh boy! Another shill for the slaughter industry who's afraid to use their name. Well, maybe if they used their name, we'd all know that most of the pro-slaughter posts are written by the same person. LOL! They sure all SOUND the same, with their drivel about all those abandoned horses. How many of you who read this have actually SEEN an abandoned horse? I certainly haven't, and I live in rural Indiana where the recession has hit hard.

These posts always put the blame for excess horses on the individual owner. If that were the case, why aren't the authorities arresting these people? A horse is the responsibility of the owner, and they should be made accountable, not given an easy - and profitable - out that only encourages MORE irresponsibility.

Yes, there ARE excess horses, and the way these "posters" PROVE they are nothing but shills is the way they never mention the REAL reason. The AQHA, the Jockey Club and probably other breed associations as well, just breed and breed and breed. They don't have to obey the same laws of supply and demand like every other "producer." No siree, all they have to do is stuff their "culls" into double decker cattle trucks The ones Anon up there is "just fine" with even though the horses don't have room to raise their heads and keep their balance and many will be dead before they even get to their destination. And those drivers will probably get minimum wages for dragging the dead ones out. Those guys could make more money hauling almost ANYTHING else. What a ridiculous argument!

And of course, these idiots never mention the FACT that American horses - not being food animals - are routinely exposed to substances that are strictly BANNED from the human food chain. Oh well, when the EU starts enforcing their new rules this July 31st, all this will be moot anyway because the EU will probably stop purchasing American horses anyway. End of Horse slaughter in the US!!

Pathetic
by: Anti-Slaughter

Bull Hauler...you are one sorry p.o.s. Not only are your comments among the most ignorant I've listened to on this issue, but they are not entirely accurate. As far as "old and used up" horses go, any horse that has given that much to people deserves to be humanely euthanized by a vet. Anyone who sends their horses elsewhere to suffer a horrible death is just as stupid and pathetic as you are. You don't deserve to own any horses.

WAKE UP
by: Anonymous

It seems to me that you commenting on here implies you don't live in the area of wide open spaces filled with wild horses and predators to keep the horses in check. A place where they roam free and live in harmony with nature. That is a place in your head that all the lucky horses go, right? No its not right. That place is long gone so wake up and smell the roses lady, because horses are smelling the roses from their domesticated pasture!

What are you talking about!
by: Anonymous

what are you talking about! You think horse killing is okay? You are crazyyyy! That is absolutely crazy. You should be ashamed.
I understand that horses are starving. But the way that they are killed and transported is cruel and mean.
Yeah you might be right. Killing them is right. and thats fine if they are dieing anyway and you cannot do anything for them. Thats fine.

but killing HEALTHY, FINE, horses is just like killing other animals and humans. Its murder. and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Reason And Emotion
by: Suzanne Moore

Leanne ~ We also shouldn't allow lack of logic to warp our judgment either. Not to mention things you know in your heart are wrong.

We are talking about deliberately bred horses. How can you suggest that it's all right to deliberately over breed because we can always slaughter the excess? I doubt there is ANY way to make slaughter "humane" for horses - it would take a mighty effort to completely redesign the slaughter houses for horses, even if there were a way to do so. It will NEVER happen as long as the killers can go on using what they already have. Same goes for their trucks. You REALLY think they're going to ditch their expensive cattle trucks just because they don't fit horses? Dream on, Sucker.

There is absolutely NO evidence that lack of slaughter houses in the US has led to a glut of "unwanted horses." That is pure fiction put out by the pro-slaughter advocates. Horse abuse and neglect certainly DOES exist. It existed before, during and after slaughter. This has been shown time and again by a number of horse ogranizations, including the HSUS, and the states of Texas and Illinois. After the slaughter houses closed, the incidence of horse abuse DROPPED. Slaughter encourages abuse and cruelty. Because heartless people will always be heartless, abuse and neglect will always be with us.

Besides, if a person refuses to give their horse a decent death by having it euthanized by a veterinarian, slaughter is still quite readily available. Just go on down to the nearest auction. The meat men will be more than glad to truck your unfortunate horse to Canada or Mexico to end its life in panic and pain.

All this doesn't even start to address the fact that American horses aren't fit for human consumption. In America, horses are NOT considered food animals, so they are not regulated as such. We daily expose them to chemicals - fly spray, wormers, Bute just to mention a few - that would have them permanently removed from the food chain in the countries that eat horse meat. Coming in April, 2010, the EU is going to demand that horses coming from here follow those same safety rules. That means that virtually ALL American horses will not be accepted by them any more. And that's where all the horse meat has been going - fancy restaurants in France, Belgium and several others.

Now, why don't we all just be reasonable..... Not to mention educated on the facts surrounding this issue. And, yes, have a heart.

I agree
by: Leanne

In a natural world, there are predators--and that's natures way of keeping animal population in check. We are not doing the horse any justice by fighting to save them and having no logic behind it! We make animals domesticated, and we give little to no regard when it comes to population control. I DO NOT think slaughter should be abolished, however, I do think that the process of horse slaughter, and slaughter houses in general should improve. For instance creating "standards" like inspection of horses before the horse enters the slaughter house, as well as finding a more humane way of euthanasia in slaughter houses, and improving the treatment of horses all together. People against slaughter have clearly not taken into consideration how important it is to create a balance and by saving horses they are sentencing more to death than a slaughter house would be! Think of the logistics! Passion has a tendency to impair one's realistic judgment...

The Crybabies Hate You, Too
by: Anonymous

This is a different opinion. I wouldn't say that I'm a crybaby (Who would call themselves a crybaby?), but I do happen to have a heart. If you don't, then that's okay with me. I've tried to understand your point of view, but as the world's biggest horse-person, I can't. Hopefully, your horses are well taken care of. I just can't imagine all the little horse crazy kids who can't afford a best buddy of thier own. Thousands of everything that they've dreamed of being wasted for a tasty snack, every day. Oh well, there goes my dream horse. Hope she tastes good! Seriously, I hope you can eventually understand my way of thinking. If not, YOU can go cry yourself to sleep, because you have an entire community of millions of people who all love the same thing, hate your guts. Crybaby.

You Are Either Lying or Crazy
by: Suzanne Moore

You say you haul horses to slaughter yourself. Then you say most of them are "too far gone to try an save, and the others are old and all used up."

As I say, you're either lying through your teeth or hallucinating. Old, sick horse are NEVER bought for slaughter for heaven's sake! Do you think killer buyers would pay one nickle for a horse like that? The slaughter house wouldn't even buy a sick horse, and in either circumstance, the horses in question would be thin as a rail - not exactly prime meat.

The truth is, by far most of the horses that go to slaughter are young, healthy and FAT. Have you ever seen cattlemen deliberately purchase sick, old thin cows to sell for meat? Not hardly. The same goes for horses. That old, sick stuff is bull shit for the stupid. Common sense should tell anyone that can't be true.

It's also not true that the closing of slaughter houses have caused an increase in "unwanted" horses. There was no documented rise in horse abuse, starvation, or neglect cases in Illinois following closure of the state's only horse slaughter plant in 2002. In fact, when the Illinois plant was non-operational for two years from March 2002 - June 2004, the Illinois Dept. of Agriculture documented a drop in horse cruelty in the state (Retrieved on July 25, 2008 from http:www.vetsforequinewelfare.org/white_paper.php.). When it reopened, the horse abuse cases went back up. The same was true in CA when slaughter was banned in 1998. Not only that, the theft of horses - one of the major ways horses are acquired for slaughter - went DOWN 33%!

Also, slaughter is possibly the LEAST humane way of ending a horse's life. I doubt that you care, but it is truly a hideous way for a horse to die. If you don't believe me, I have a nice video on my blog: http://goldendays-suzanne.blogspot.com/2008/02/reality-of-horse-slaughter-graphic.html
Enjoy!

One thing I DO agree with you about though - I am sick of having to put up with people like you who "run there (sic) mouth about things that they don't even know about!!!!." (I left your ignorant use of "there" instead of "their" intact this time.

If you want to discuss this further, you have my name and blog address, BS Hauler.

So sensitive, aren't you?
by: Anonymous

And I bet you have "WONDERFUL" relationship with your horses too. They sense it and probably already know where they are headed when you try to play God and say their time is up. It is because of people like you that this slaughter continues.

I bet you would buy a horseburger on the streets of Paris too! What if you knew it was your horse you were eating? Still the same insensitive attitude?
