Why ship horses?

Why do we need to ship horses to other countries? I eat cows, chickens, turkeys, pigs, fish, rabbits, and goats all on a weekly basis, why not horses? It's misguided to view them as some mythical creature that are somehow above the status of other domesticated animals in our country. Hopefully, someday America can get over its aversion to eating "pet" species (animals that are commonly consumed all over the planet) and help to end hunger in our nation. "Euthanasia" is just a term that sounds better than "slaughter", the only difference being that after "euthanasia" the animal gets trucked to the landfill to be ground with the trash under a tractor's treads instead of being used as food.
