Why are there unwanted horses?

by Lynette Lauer
(Mandan, ND)

The main argument for the necessity of horse slaughter is "There are too many unwanted horses".
So how does this happen?

Has a horse ever hidden under your porch and had a litter of foals?
Is there a teen pregnancy problem among horses?
Are horses roaming the streets looking for love?
NO!!

Horses do not have babies unless their owner WANTS THEM TO.

In the real world it's called supply and demand. If there is an overabundance of anything, the prices will fall, money will be lost, etc., etc. Any other industry would slow the production of goods that were "unwanted".

OMG, thank you so much for actually getting it out there! It's talked about in horse magazines, but I didn't think anyone was actually getting it.

Extremely well put!
