This Animal HAS YET to be seized by local animal services.

(Florida)

Photobucket

In October 2008 I saw this horse hobbling on three legs, obviously in horrible pain from 1/4 mile away. I went and knocked on the door of the trailer and asked the owner if I could take a look at the horse. They said I could and that he had stepped on a nail a week prior. They had simply yanked the nail out and gone on with their business. No vet had been notified! I then saved his life. According to the vet 100% he would have died had I not stepped in, called the vet on numerous occasions and treated his hoof wound twice a day for two months in a row (all for free). He finally recovered from the hoof infection and I dropped him back off with his **** owners.

Two months later I ran into his owner in town. She said, "we need your help again someone reported us to the county animal services."

I agree to come to their house, the horse now only weighs 730 pounds (a healthy horse of his height 16 hands should weight 900-1000 lbs).

I agree to feed him once every day and he gains 40 lbs in one month under my care.

They then quit their job and say they can no longer compensate me for the gas to get to their house and feed him.

It's been two-three months since I stopped caring for him and he has only gained 20 more pounds.

They call me today claiming they were reported to county animal services again. THEN they have the nerve to ask me if I had reported them. I said no and strongly encouraged him to let me help them find the horse a new home and he says "I don't wanna give him away because I've already put so much money into him." Keep in mind this is a horse that would be worth no more than $500 in a GOOD market (we are in a ***** one).

It seems the county is going to be called with complaints about this poor, sweet animal until the end of time and no one with any power by law seems to care AT ALL.

I'm so sad and passionate about this issue.
