Slaughter: Friend or Foe?

When does not having horses killed somewhat quickly in a slaughter house, compare to horses being starved or let go on a highway, any different from the pain and suffering they may feel in a slaughter house?


I know that not all horses are killed efficiently before they move down the slaughter line, but none of the horses are killed when they are let go into the streets, nor are they killed when they are never fed and starve to death.


Is it more painful to go through slaughter or never be fed or hit by a vehicle?
