No teeth..No treats?

by Anonymous

I have a 25 year old Morgan horse. He has very bad teeth and has choked on grain and hay numerous times. I am having to feed him a bran mash 2 times a day instead of regular hay or grain. I used to think that he couldn't have any treats either, until I found this recipe! These treats are soft, chewy, and easy for him to digest and chew. No more getting left out after rides on the treats. These are also completely safe and healthy. Make sure to store in a air tight container.

Apple and Oat Chewies

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups unsweetened apple sauce
1 cup oat bran cereal or ground oatmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Oil a 9" x 9" square baking pan
Spread the batter evenly in the cake pan and bake for 20 to 30 minutes until firm to the touch
Keep unused treats in the refrigerator

Amazing! I made these for the horses at the barn. Turns out nearly all the animals at the barn can eat them, including us humans! :)
