No Bake Senior Horse Treats

by Tanah
(Silver City, New Mexico, USA)

*2c.absorbant grain (I use 14% horse)
*2c.water
*peppermints or corn kernels (or some of your horse's small fav. treats)
*alfalfa hay dust

Mix the grain with the water. If the substance is to watery, leave it in the sun for a while (It won't hurt to add water either). Work the dough with your hands until it starts to stick to your hands. Devide into small balls. Flatten them into mini pankakes. Then sprinkle the hay dust over them. Next, gently press the corn or peppermints (or what ever else) in, one in the middle of each treat. Finally, place them in a warm place.(out of reach of your horse) Let them dry. It might take longer depending on where you live. And at last, give one to your horse.

What grain? NEW
by: Tanah

It doesn't matter what kind of absorbent grain. I made this recipie through experiments. The grain I use is made at my local feed store mill. It is a 14% protein based grain that is to add/keep weight. That is why I feed it to my older horse. There are many different grains that will work. You can also mix grains but dont put to much sweet feed because then they will come out crumbly. You should just experiment with the grains you think will work.
