My little Fighter

(My filly) Maple was born on July 1st/09 at around 7 am. She was born 100% healthy. We had started letting her & our mare out to graze with the other horses during the day in the hay fields when she was about a month old. I would bring the two in in the evening and put them in a separate pen away from any barbed wire. One morning I went out to let them out to pasture, and Maple was lying on the ground breathing heavily. I ran up to her & her chest was ripped wide open & her face was scratced up and she also had two bite marks in her legs.

We where going to trailer her to the vets & she still wasn't halter broke. So we had to fight with her to get it on. About an hour later we finally had her in the halter & in the trailer. She was sedated and the vets stitched her up. After that, everyday for about 3 weeks, I would run cold water over her wounds and put fly spray around the wounds as well. We also had to give her a shot of painkillers.

She went through all this, and could have easily died. But she fought through it all, and has still turned out to be the most amazing little horse ever. She is my little fighter ?
