my friends horse has bumps all over its body

the ranch where i keep my horse has 2 horses they both have bumps all over there body they look like bug bite only bigger. what can cause this?

Answer: Well I really can't answer you positively without more info. It could be a lot of things. It could be hives, bug bites, rain rot or a multitude of other things. How long have they been there? If they do not go away within a day or two, I would have them checked out to make sure.

well i'm sure its not rain rot for we live in buffalo wy, no moisture but they have had them for a week. The owners have assured me that they have not changed there diet and right now we are going into winter so not to many bugs out.

Answer: I am at a loss on this one. If it were hives, they should be gone by now. Hives usually only last a couple of days. I think I would contact my vet, to be safe. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

ok i think it is hives or a the horse has a elergect reaction to something. like mold or the hay so if it is the hay give it benageal. how oftan do you work your horse? i have a horse that has the same thing.

Sounds like what my mare has. She is healthy and just had a foal which is also healthy with no bumps on his skin. I have tried fungicide spray with no resault. None of the other horses in the pasture have this problem so I'm at a loss to figure it out.
