I'm young but know more than some

by Morgan
(Maryland, US)

Older people usually assume that teenagers have that reputation of being dumb and not know what they are talking about, but i do! I am in the middle teens but I know more than people think. I have gone to the auctions with my trainer a couple of times, and yes we have taken 2 horses there, but as long as i have been with my trainer (about 6 years), we have only taken 2 TOTAL horses there! There was no hope in selling them because they had been for sale about a year and a half each, but anyways while going to the auction, and watching everything around you, you get an awful feeling in your stomach. You can feel the pain as the horses that are skin and bones or have major injuries have. And while people may think "oh it's only an auction, what bad thing is there?" Horrible things are there! behind what you see are cruel and disgusting things. The amish believe that "Man rules over animals" so they don't have any feelings towards their animals. Behind what you see are horses that have brutally beaten, or have a sickness that will take a long time to be treated. And the people working there dont even give them a chance and the kill buyers will take them automatically. Those poor horses have no other chances at life. we have taken to the place where they will be taking their last look at you and having a life, after that moment they get their sticker, their life is over. unless they are lucky enough to be bought by someone that is giving them a chance. Horse slaughter is not the right thing to do. but when you think about it, so many horses are going to the auctions because people wont give them a chance and they want that perfect show pony or that bomb proof trail horse. we need to stop taking what we have for granted and stop complaining. give your horse a chance like how your parents and friends gave you a chance. teach them things like how you teach your children. the more they learn the more they will calm down and love you more! Dont take what i said for granted and help out those horses in need!!! RIP Sabastion
