Too Much Urine
by: Mygeneral

I have a 6 year old Stallion. I've had him for 5 years. He Urinates too much, but does not drink a whole lot of water. What is causing this problem?

Answer: I don't know what you mean by too much. Horses usually produce on the average of 4 to 6 gallons of urine a day. If he eats a lot of salt, that will make him urinate more frequently, but it would also make him drink more water. Does he grunt or strain when he urinates? If so, you may want to contact your vet. He could have a bladder infection or a urinary tract infection.
