hard puller, to fast!

by Ally
(Australia)

hello I have a young mare that when I jump her she doesn't pay attention, pulls her head right down so I lose my reining and is way to fast! I can't slow her down especially in jumping! its like she is so lazy, she has jumped over a metre and even with fifty centimetre jumps she just hits the pole. People tell me trotting poles for that but is there anything else? could all these questions please be answered! Thanks

Answer: Sound to me like she needs a lot of groundwork. You shouldn't even consider jumping her until you can control her simply riding.
