hair loss under the mane?

my horse has a patch of missing hair under its mane there are no other horses out in field with it and not much she can scratch off..is it some kind of mite??

Answer: That's kinda hard to answer without knowing more about the patch of missing hair. If it's red and irritated, then it probably is something like that. But if it's just slick skin, then he probably just rubbed it off on something. I wouldn't worry alot about it unless it get worse. I would give it a couple of days and see if it gets better on it's own.
