well i have a horse called elvis and he is a arab and he is chestnut colored he is 8 years old and i love him to bits i need some information about looking after a horse what do you feed it and how many times do you ride him and do i groom him everyday.

Answer: Wow, it doesn't sound like you have had very much experience with horses. Horses are a very big responsibility. You have to feed him everyday, groom him everyday and try and ride him as much as you can. I think you really need to just read through the website and learn as much as you can about caring for a horse. You have a lot to learn and since you already own the horse, you need to learn pretty quick. I feed my horses Strategy, by Purina Mills. The instruction are on the back as to how much to feed.

Elvis the horse - takling care of him
by: Pam

Elvis - I learned when I got into horses everyone had an opinion...you have to just take that into mind and then do what works for you. It's just common sense. I used to think you had to not just groom them everyday, pick their feet, etc..
Really, horses are not that high maintenance!
It depends on if your horse is at home with you or at a stable -
So, take all the information you can, but do not sweat it - you'll be okay!
Yes, you do need to feed them daily (2x), have their teeth floated if you see them dropping food and depending what age he is 1 x yr for the equine dentist. If a young horse then 2 x year -
(Also, if they want to work on your horse with power tools - Just say NO- and find another equine dentist)

Yes, they need to have their feet done - a nice natural balance (ask around and find out who the best farrier is in you area for your particular breed of horse (gaited vs. not)!

Yes, if you can bond and see your horse everyday - great make it a pleasurable experience for the both of you. Grooming - not just always, throwing a saddle on him and heading doen the road.

Bring, him treats as a motivator (carrots) as a reward if your teaching him something new or just because!

Anything else - you'll know as it comes up...
Good Luck
