The Araloosa
Araloosa horses are known as one of the oldest distinct breeds of horses. However, it has just recently become a new horse registry in the U.S. It incorporates the bloodlines of the Arabian and the Appaloosa. This horse is a very intelligent breed that possesses great stamina and endurance. It has a fiery and spirited temperament. This horse breed is a breathtaking combination of the Arabian’s elegance, stamina and fire, and the Appaloosa’s durability, personality and color. They are also referred to as Arappaloosa and Ara-Appaloosa. This breed exhibits the "leopard" gene and must have one of the color patterns found on the Appaloosa. They average between 14 and 15 hands high. They have the general conformation of the Arabian, including a refined head, high-carried tail and overall elegance. Like both the Arabian and the Appaloosa, they have considerable endurance, sure-footedness, and intelligence. Overall, an Arappaloosa will be of a more refined build than the more common type of Appaloosa.
